Q: What Recordings Can Be Included On BOHSA?
A:
Any high schoola cappella recording in any genre or style, from anywhere on the planet. We prefer recordings made or released in the current year, but if your group just found us, we'll consider your old CDs too. We also consider unreleased recordings, if your group has done some recording but not yet put it on an album

Q: How is BOHSA chosen?
A: Tracks will be chosen by CASA founder Deke Sharon and Varsity Vocals director Amanda Grish. Important factors include (1) song selection: (3) intonation; (4) effectiveness of arrangement; (5) balance; (6) production quality (it should not detract).

Q: Can we send live recordings?
A: Yes! Live cuts are rare, but we are happy to consider them.

Q: Will you accept late submissions?
A: We give a few days' leniency as long as we are informed by 5pm EST on January 13. Please email deke@totalvocal.com.

Q: What format will you accept?
A: Only CDs and CDRs are accepted. Sorry, we do not accept electronic submissions such as e-mailed MP3s or FTP'd WAV files.

Q: What should we send with our CDs?
A:
The group's full name and school should appear on the CD. Please include a track list with soloists and arrangers, as well as your full contact information. The MOST IMPORTANT contact information is your correct e-mail address.

Q: Does it cost anything to appear on BOHSA?
A: Yes. Groups are required to pre-purchase 50 CDs at $6 apiece, for a total of $300, in order to appear on BOCA. Note that you are not limited to 50 CDs; some groups have bought many more and sold them on campus for much more than $6 each.

Q: What do we get out of appearing on BOHSA?
A:
Bragging rights for one. Dozens of CDs are submitted each year for BOHSA, of which we will choose fewer than 20. You can sell your copies at any price, though you only pay us $6 for them. You also get international publicity, and we include contact information in the liner notes so people who like what they hear can order your disc.

Still have questions? Email Deke Sharon or Amanda Grish. Thanks!
